Daniel J. Harsfield is a British casino consultant with 15 years of experience in the field. Despite hailing from London, in 1994 he moved to Lyon, France in order to study mathematics in the Claude Bernard University Lyon 1. After being introduced to gambling in his early adult life, Daniel began suffering from a severe case of gambling addiction, which necessitated a return to London in 1997 for therapy. The usual way professionals try to treat addiction is by completely isolating their patients from the object of their addiction, but that didn’t work for Daniel, whose condition was getting worse and worse. Eventually, he managed to overcome his condition almost entirely on his own not by isolating himself from casino, but by studying it thoroughly. He bought multiple books on the subject and began learning the ins and outs of casino games – how they worked, what the mathematics behind them were and how they could be beaten. He got so knowledgeable that in 1999 he managed to find a job as the consultant of a newly established casino. And while that business only ended up lasting for a little over five years, Daniel learned a lot there and quickly found himself another job, this one in Toulouse, France. He has been working as a freelance consultant ever since, offering his services to casinos in 5 different European countries and learning as much as possible about his favourite hobby. Currently he’s residing in Scotland as the consultant of yet another up-and-coming casino, but he’s always ready and willing to share his knowledge about casino with anyone who would listen (and with a lot who would)!
